Advertising Rates
Please call 858-573-0315 for current ad rates. Discounts are available for multiple insertions. All rates include basic ad production and design assistance.

Deadlines
ComputorEdge is published every Friday. The ad deadline for each issue is the Monday prior to each Friday's publication. Ad deadlines are subject to change depending on holiday dates. ComputorEdge is not published during the week of Christmas.

Placement
The following full-page positions are available by reservation at an additional premium rate.
$800 - Back page or page three
$550 - Inside front and inside back pages
$1012 - Two-page center spread

Other inside placement - 25% of 1-time rate
All other placement is at publisher's option and cannot be guaranteed. Due to the targeted nature of the publication, publisher assumes no liability for placement of an ad next to a competitor.

Color
Charges are per page or fraction thereof. Four-color process rates are based on advertiser supplying camera-ready art and separations.

No extra charge. Available only in full-page and two-page-spread ad sizes.

Advertising Credits
First-time advertisers can receive an Advertising Credit for running same-size ads at the one-time rate in six, nine, or 12 issues over a six-month time period. The credit is a percentage of the one-time rate times the number of insertions (10% for six ads, 15% for nine, 20% for 12 and 25% for 25), and is applied to the next ad in succession. For instance, when you run an ad in six issues, you receive a 10-percent credit (10% of the one-time rate times six issues) toward your seventh ad. In the event your ads vary in size, the credit will be based on the one-time rate of the smallest size ad. The credited ad may be any size. Once your advertising credit has been used (your account has a zero balance), you are then eligible for contract rates. All credits may be applied toward future advertising only.

Due to the wide variety of digital file formats, it is impossible for ComputorEdge Magazine to support all of the formatting choices. Please adhere to the following specifications to ensure accurate output of your ad.

All ads should be in the following Digital file formats:

Adobe PDF v. 4.0
(Preferred)
Make sure your ad is in Greyscale Mode if it is not a color ad. Be sure to optimize for print and turn off all compression schemes.

If the PDF file was created in Adobe Illustrator, be sure to Select All text and Create Outlines.

If the PDF file was created in CorelDRAW, be sure to Export text as Curves.


QuarkXPress
If sending a Quark file, be sure to include all images used in the ad. For legal reasons, we cannot use fonts provided by clients unless we also own the fonts. Please call to check if the fonts you’re using are on our font list. If not, we reserve the right to substitute your fonts with similar ones from our font list.

Adobe Illustrator EPS (Spot Color Ads)
If sending an Adobe Illustrator EPS file, be sure to Select All text and Create Outlines. (Export text as Curves in CorelDRAW)

We do not recommend submitting your ad as a Photoshop file or any bitmap file. In most cases, the text will become pixelated and difficult to read when printed do to bitmapping. Photoshop and other pixel-based programs are designed to create images and graphics which are ideal as support art for a page-layout program like QuarkXPress, a vector-based program like Adobe Illustrator, or a Web authoring program like DreamWeaver.

Production Notes
Please Make Sure That:

  • Ad dimensions are correct, and bleeds (available for full-page ads only)
    have been set up to specs.
  • All fonts used in the ad are outlined or have been embedded.
  • All images used in the ad are included and are in eps or tif format.
  • All bitmap images are between 150 and 300ppi.
  • Do not send gif images – this format is for Web use and generally not suitable for printing purposes.

Editorial Profile
ComputorEdge editorial is designed to inform and entertain. Specializing in feature articles that address the day-to-day computer problems users encounter, ComputorEdge caters to no particular type or brand of computer system. Emphasis is placed on providing new and useful information for the experienced user without intimidating the beginner. In addition, each issue features at least one piece of free-lance computer humor, fiction, or personal encounter, as well as articles specifically written to assist the new computer buyer. ComputorEdge is a targeted regional publication, and reflects reader interest like no national magazine can. Its unique local flavor is evident in the comprehensive listings of user groups, BBSs, directory of computer services, career opportunities, and free private-party classified ads it offers its readers.

General Profile
ComputorEdge is a free weekly magazine, geographically targeted to serve the needs of personal computer users within its distribution area. It is the nation's largest regional computer weekly. ComputorEdge is published every Friday, except during the Christmas holiday, and is distributed throughout all of San Diego County.

Circulation
ComputorEdge is distributed free of charge throughout San Diego County to a variety of high-traffic distribution points, such as computer stores, business complexes, large businesses, public libraries, schools and universities, convenience stores, and computer user groups. In addition, ComputorEdge targets a direct mailing of the publication each week to the top 300 purchasing agents for government agencies, schools, and businesses with 250 or more employees. Distribution in excess of 60,000 is guaranteed for each issue.

Payment
Payment in advance is required from all advertisers and must be postmarked by the Friday before deadline or hand-delivered on the Monday deadline. A five-percent cash discount is given with advance payment. Credit terms are at the absolute discretion of the publisher who may terminate, alter or deny credit without notice.

Shipping Instructions
All insertion orders and materials should be shipped prepaid to: Advertising Department, ComputorEdge, 4740 Murphy, Suite 250, San Diego, CA 92123. All new material, copy, instructions, and insertion orders must be received by advertising deadline for guaranteed inclusion in issue. Prints, artwork and film should be separately slipsheeted and securely packed to prevent possible damage. General Policy
All advertising is subject to publisher's approval. Publisher reserves the right to reject or cancel any advertising that does not conform to the standards of the publication or that it deems offensive to its audience. All advertisements are accepted and published by publisher upon the representation that the advertiser and/or agency is authorized to publish the entire contents and subject matter thereof. In consideration of publisher's acceptance of such advertisements for publication, the advertiser and/or agency will indemnify, defend and hold the publisher harmless from and against any loss or expense arising out of publication of such advertisements, including, without limitation, those resulting from claims or suits for libel, violation of rights of privacy, plagiarism, and copyright infringement. In the event of non-payment, publisher reserves the right to hold the advertiser and/or its advertising agency jointly and severally liable for such monies as are due and payable. Advertiser agrees to notify publisher of any change in ownership of said company within ten days from date of effect. In the event of error in publication of advertising, and said error is plainly the fault of ComputorEdge, publisher's liability is limited only to the direct cost or portion of the advertisement and not for any indirect or subsequent damage due to loss of business or profits. All claims of error in publication must be made within five working days thereafter, and if not so made shall not be considered. Publisher reserves the right to revise its advertising rates at any time upon 30 days notice in writing. Advertiser may cancel or amend its contract or space reservation without charge on the date the new or higher rates become effective, provided written notice of such cancellation or amendment is given to publisher before said date.No conditions, printed or otherwise, appearing on the space order, billing instructions, or copy instructions, which conflict with the policies listed herein will be binding on publisher. Oral agreements are not recognized.
